I finished my mom's prayer shawl last night while watching "Rent." There's nothing quite like sitting on the couch... with a warm cup of French pressed coffee... knitting away and singing, "525,600 minutes..."
I must admit... I was amazed at the sheer size of this shawl once completed. It's easily taller than I am. And it's so warm and so snuggly. And Mom loved it. She immediately wrapped it around herself and used it while sitting on the porch swing.
I've already started two more prayer shawls, actually. One for myself in a fern green color... and another in warm, fall-tones. The fern green yarn is Suri Dream (a semi-furry yarn) by Knit Picks... and the fall-tones yarn is Homespun by Lion Brand. Both have their own unique texture that I love.
Oh, and speaking of love... Happy Mother's Day to all the mommy's out there!

It's gorgeous! And happy mother's day! :D
that is so beautiful!
Wow, you are rippin out the big projects!!!
I made myself something very similar with Lion's brand. A nursing shawl, for all those airy, topless, snuggly moments. My eldest is now eight and he still loves that nursing shawl and asks for it when he doesn't feel well. I'm surprised how the yarn has held up. We've been kind to it, and not washed "too often".
Very, very nice. It looks really soft too.
This looks soo yummy and cozy and soft! What yarn is this?? It knit in to such a beautiful fabric!!
